How did political, economic, and social conflicts result in the independence of South Sudan? South Sudan became an independent country on July 9, 2011. There are three main factors that led to South Sudan’s independence- Social, political, and economic conflicts

When Sudan became independent from Britain in 1956, the existing colonial borders did not take into account the various ethnic and religious groups North- mostly Arab Muslims South- numerous ethnic groups who follow traditional religions and some Christianity
