1
Scalar- number and units Vector- number, unit and direction Position (x)- The location of an object Distance (d)- change in position without regard to direction Displacement (∆x)- change in position, only with regards to starting and ending position X f -X i Speed (s)- distance/ time Velocity (v)- displacement/ time
2
Best fit line- a line that splits data points in such a way that it represents an “average” of all the data points. ie. Half above, half below Y- intercept – location on the y axis where a line crosses it Slope– rise/run or y-axis/x-axis, Constant velocity- velocity that does not change in value or direction Average velocity- velocity calculated over a period of time, usually by equation or finding the slope of a best fit line
3
Instantaneous velocity- velocity at an instant in time, usually found by determining the slope of a line tangent to t velocity curve at a single point Position-the location of an object Motion Map– a “strobe” type representation of an object were the object’s velocity is represented as an arrow (vector). Each “flash” represents a unit of time.
