2.  The Northeast is north of the Southeast region, and east of the Midwest region.  The Northeast is directly south of Canada.  The northeast is on the East Coast of the United States.

3.  The largest city in the region is New York.  New York’s Latitude is 40°43′″N, and it’s longitude is 74°00′″W.

4.  The Northeast is comprised of the New England states and the Mid-Atlantic states.  New England’s states are as follows; Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

5.  The Mid-Atlantic states are New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

6.  The Adirondack, Green, and White mountains run through this region.  The largest ethnic groups are in this order. Irish, Italian, and German.  The Northern part of the Northeast has Cold winters and cool summers.

7.  The southern part of the Northeast has warm summers and Cold winters.

8.  People have always counted on high and low tide, so they can collect clams and oysters.  People use the abundance of wood in the Adirondack Forests for lumber.

9.  People have chosen to live in this region not only for it’s beauty, but for it’s rich history and change of seasons.  Goods are transported in and out of this region mainly by boat, rail, truck, and plane.

10.  The first Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts. (rock seen at right)  The world’s largest pearl was found off the coast of the Northeast.
