Use PRESENT PERFECT We use Present Perfect: to express an action recently completed: We have just finished our homework. for recent actions without mentioning the time: I have written a letter. (Past Simple: I wrote a letter yesterday) for past actions which imply a connection with the present: I have swam in that river. (Implies that “I can still swim today …”, and/or that this occurred more than once, otherwise I would say “I swam (once)…” or “I used to swim…)
