2 Type of Art  They made jewelry that was carved and fine pottery.  The Olmec’s made statues of basalt, wood, and jade.  The statues where big heads for a range of 5 feet to 11 feet.

3 Materials The Olmec’s used mainly stone and clay. The paint colors they used where mostly bright shades of yellow, purple, and red. They also used multicolored clay They used jade and greenstone to make finer lines in their art.

4 The period it was in It was in 800 B.C. -400 B.C. Those years marks the finest period in Olmec art.

5 Best Known For… The Olmecs are best known for their giant stone head sculptures. They are also known for their small carvings. Detailed jade objects Motif combining human and jaguar objects The jaguar objects were based on their most important god the jaguar.
