VINES – THE OVERLOOKED RESTORATION TECHNIQUE Use vines for aesthetics, habitat, & temperature mitigation (reduction in thermal heat transfer from stone structures). For this project a 9 inch long cutting of Virginia Creeper was planted every 5 ft along the top of an existing stone wall.

CHAUTAUQUA CREEK ICE DAMAGE REDUCTION PROJECT –Near its mouth @ Lake Erie WESTFIELD, NY Severe scour from ice and high flow velocities on the right descending bank had resulted in an overwidened section of stream. Catskill Sand Cherry planted 3 years ago Under water & under ice every winter. Some examples growing 12 to 14 ft above base flow water surface elevation Needs full sun
