Local context – budget background Public services in North Somerset are facing a challenging financial future The Council/police and health services have all been disproportionately low- funded by Government in recent years NSC projected budget shortfall is £94m over 7 years

Our strategy Our aim, where we can, is to redesign services rather than simply cut them –Streamlined –Smarter working –Self-service for residents –Self-supporting communities –Strategic partnerships –Stimulating the private and civic sectors

Service and Asset Transfer opportunities October 2011 – launch £400k Community Investment Fund Expressions of interest from 16 town and parish councils Themes emerging: –Public toilets –Green infrastructure –Street lighting –Activities for children and young people
