1 Art of The Age 1935 Lara Copas

2 Music  Even though people were going through hard times. They still listened to music, or other forms of entertainment.  The music they listened to generally reflected the impacts of World War 2 and the Great Depression.

3 Genres of Music  Southern  Gospel  Western  Swing  (war songs were popular and also big bands)  Authentic American voices and rhythms seemed to be what people wanted to listen to at the time

4 Art  People liked to see productions that were inexpensive as possible due to the state they were in at the time.  Artwork normally reflected what life was like for the people during some historical time.

5 Types of Art Theatre  Radio was just recently introduced and was used to listen to the scripts of musicals  Musicals that cost little to see were perfect for the people Visual art  Social realism  Scene paintings  Images drawn from American History  Mexican muralism

6 Examples  Annie the musical is one they talk about in my book  God Bless America by Kate smith  I’m in The Mood For Love by Louis Armstrong
