John – The Author

Living Deeply in Christ The progression from birth to maturity Chapter 2:12-14 I write to you, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name. I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, dear children, because you have known the Father. I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

Living Deeply in Christ To the young and strong in the faith …

Living Deeply in Christ Hebrews 5:11 – 14 We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

Living Deeply in Christ To the young and strong in the faith … 1 John 3:8b “The reason that the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.”

Living Deeply in Christ 1 Jn 2:1 My dear children I write this to you so that you will not sin, But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense – Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

Living Deeply in Christ 1 Jn 5:19-20. We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. We also know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true – even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.”

Living Deeply in Christ John 1 (Amplified Bible) IN THE beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was present originally with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being. In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men. And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it [put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it].

Living Deeply in Christ To those who are mature in the faith … Colossians 3:3-4 (The Message) Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life — even though invisible to spectators — is with Christ in God. He is your life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you'll show up, too — the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ.

Living Deeply in Christ What is the proper orientation of our lives? To live in the light of the love of Christ.

Living Deeply in Christ The sign-off … 1 John 5:21 “Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.”
