1. Understanding the instrumental Music Schedule

2. Sample Lesson Schedule Week #1 of 5  Student has lesson on Tuesday during 2 nd period.  Student will miss art class  Student will not miss 2 nd period again for 5 weeks (will have 24 regular 2 nd period classes before missing again)

3. Sample Lesson Schedule Week #2 of 5  Student has lesson on Tuesday during 3 rd period.  Student will miss Social Studies class  Student will not miss 3 rd period again for 5 weeks (will have 24 regular 3 rd period classes before missing again)

4. Sample Lesson Schedule Week #3 of 5  Student has lesson on Tuesday during 4 th period.  Student will miss Science class  Student will not miss 4th period again for 5 weeks (will have 24 regular 4 th period classes before missing again)

5. Sample Lesson Schedule Week #4 of 5  Student has lesson on Tuesday during 9 th period.  Student will miss General Music class  Student will not miss 9 th period again for 5 weeks (will have 24 regular 9 th period classes before missing again)

6. Sample Lesson Schedule Week #5 of 5  Student has lesson on Tuesday during 10 th period.  Student will miss Language Arts class  Student will not miss 10 th period again for 5 weeks (will have 24 regular 10 th period classes before missing again)

7. Lesson Schedule Outline Lesson Schedule Outline  All students are on a five week rotation  All students will receive one lesson per week.  There are no lessons during 1 st period (there are no specials during first period)  There are no lessons scheduled during 8 th grade Algebra (8 th period)  Student will only miss one subject area class out of every twenty five classes in that subject  Student will miss only 2-3 classes in any one subject area per marking period (That’s 2 or 3 out of approximately 75 classes)

8. Exception  If a student has a test in their regular subject class, they will stay and take their test.  Student is responsible for notifying Band Teacher and rescheduling lesson during another period  This will cause student to miss a different class for that week

9. Band Rehearsal Schedule  Each band rehearses once a week  During 2-30 min middle of the day classes  One I.S. (Independent Study) class and one Academic (reinforcement) class

10. Responsibilities  Attendance (lessons, rehearsals and performances)  Preparedness (instrument, lesson book, band music and practice worksheet)  Practice ( daily practice and filled in practice worksheet with parent initials)  Work together as a group (Band requires team work)  Instrumental Music (band and lessons combined) is a graded class, not an extra curricular activity. It is treated as such!

11. Concerts  Winter Concert 12/20  Pops Concert at HP (March?)  Spring Concert 5/16  East Hanover Memorial Day Parade 5/28  Band Festival/Dorney Park Trip (Concert Band and Jazz Band only) May or June?  Other small concerts (tba)

12. Fundraisers  There are 2 major fundraisers  One in the fall and one in the spring  Money to help the music program and pay for our Festival trip  If we don’t raise enough money, We Don’t Go!
