2 © Nicky Anne Kyle 2009 PIP Folding Bed: Example Style Sheet 2/5 Firm Back Sofa (without table option) Notes:In this variant, the sofa cushion and mattress are upholstered in plum Dralon, the frame is light oak (or effect), padded chair arms have been added and the bed extensions are made out of perspex (or similar) to be strong but transparent (and hence unobtrusive).

3 © Nicky Anne Kyle 2009 PIP Folding Bed: Example Style Sheet 3/5 Cushion Back Sofa (with side table option) Permanent storage (eg. magazines, DVD rack) Temporary storage (day only eg. alarm clock) Permanent Table (lamp, remote controls etc.) Notes:In this variant, the mattress and back scatter cushions are upholstered in forest green Dralon, the frame is covered with grey hessian, padded chair arms have been added and permanent side tables provided in a toning colour, with the bed extensions folded back underneath and deepened to provide storage.

4 © Nicky Anne Kyle 2009 PIP Folding Bed: Example Style Sheet 4/5 Princess Playbed Whiteboard and shelf Drawer for pens etc. Clip to hold drawing paper (other side) Notes: In the day this bed extends the play area in a typically small child’s room, it also provides a proper (washable) sofa. Bedding, nightwear, bedtime toys etc. can go into the drawers under the bed. In the night the bedding etc. comes out and toys can be cleared away into the drawers, whilst bigger toys can be put under the bed (in the reachable half-width space). Note that the gold design will then make smooth lines down both sides and with the extensions closed the bottom of the side panels will reveal a fairy castle outline at night with a few lit windows, moon & stars. Options this could come with stick-on stencils to allow the child’s name to be put on the central cloud &/or a matching low table and stool to be stored underneath. Given a small clearance, this means that a jigsaw or board game could be put away intact for next day.
