What is a Community? A community is a group of people who have something in common Communities people belong to: sports clubs friends music groups drama clubs religions neighbourhoods

Benefits of Living in Communities Sharing – ideas, objects, talents, resources Organising – transport, schools, hospitals Providing for people’s needs – belonging, love, fulfilment, self-esteem

What is Communication? Imparting or exchanging information by speaking, writing or using some other medium Forms of communication: talking face to face talking on the phone texting emailing television writing Facebook

Community Breakdown When a community fails to work and is no longer achieving its aims or is not benefiting its members

Why Communities Break Down People don’t carry out their roles A lack of co-operation Poor communication People argue about what is happening Poor leadership
