EARLY SEASON BROWN TROUT With the arrival of Spring most big bass have migrated to shallow water. You also get brown trout mainly after St. Patrick’s Day in March. You can identify brown trout by their distinctive red tipped fin.

SUMMER POLLOCK AND MACKEREL In Summer you might want to pop down to Donegal Bay and try some fly-fishing. Hopefully you’ll catch some mackerel and/or Pollock.

AUTUMN GRILSE In Ireland August is the first month of autumn. Temperatures still pretty high, is August here mostly a wet month, particularly on the west coast. That is what the angler wants and where he wants to be, because rivers are often in spate and the grilse run, normally. Still, most of us think grilse fishing is a summer sport, but really it is an autumn pass time

WINTER BEST TIME FOR PIKE October, winter isn't far away. That is the best time to catch pike. No matter, whether you go afloat or fish from the banks, full moon periods should be avoided, because for some reason they don’t take?!
