WHAT’S CHANGED? O THE CORE: O Where does this section reflect a genuine interest and caring for students? O Where is the connection to parents? O RESPONSE: O Refinement of Core Section

WHAT’S CHANGED? O THE CULTURAL CONDITIONS: (from AISI feedback) O Why does literacy have only a one-liner as a description? It needs to be explained further O Need to put “Culture of” in front of each element O Does technology belong? O Does inclusion belong?– this is what we do! O RESPONSE: O Addressed first 2 concerns O Did not address technology or inclusion as AISI is the only group who has provided feedback at this time

GREAT DEBATE: O 2 Statements are still under debate: O “Highly effective teachers are the key to student learning and success.” (vs teaching) O The teacher makes intentional decisions in planning for instruction in order to make it impossible for students to disengage. (impossible??)

Background Section: Previous Version O Highly effective teachers are the key to student learning and success. Recognizing this, the aim of this document is to identify the core elements within a quality learning environment in order to provide a common language and model of instruction that will facilitate conversations about teaching and learning throughout Chinook’s Edge. This model will assist us in making our mission and vision for leading and supporting learning come to life.

CULTURAL CONDITIONS: O As we look at our instructional practice, we believe that… Speaks to the Culture in CESD: O Our work is guided by quality research and data O We grown and develop as teachers through learning communities O We believe in the importance of literacy and numeracy. It is a part of all that we do. O We believe in a culture of inclusion. Students are integrated into our classrooms where appropriate for the child. O We believe that technology is not a driver of instruction but embedded where appropriate
