Common Application If you are using the Common App to apply for any colleges, you will be required to match your Common App account with your Family Connection account.

When creating your account through the Common Application, you must use the exact name that is in Naviance or else you will not be able to link your CA account to Naviance. 8 IMPORTANT!

Complete “Profile” and “Education” (you must add you High School!) 10 Create Your Common App Account

Select “My Colleges” tab add a school 11 Create Your Common App Account

Complete your FERPA Release Authorization. 12 Create Your Common App Account Add at least one college you intend to apply to, and within that colleges tab, click on “Recommenders and FERPA.” Click on “release authorization” and follow the on-screen instructions. It is critically important that you do not request any school-based (teacher or counselor) recommenders in your Common App account.

Add colleges to your list of “Colleges I’m Applying to” 15 Add Colleges to your List

Click “lookup” to search for a school. Then, click the “request” button under Transcript. 16 Add Colleges to your List

Choose the Type of decision. If you have submitted your application already, check the box. 17 Add Colleges to your List

Repeat for additional schools. When done, click Add Colleges. 18 Add Colleges to your List

22 Submission Icons College or university accepts electronic transcripts but is not a member of the Common App. College or university accepts the Common Application. This icon will only appear if you have indicated “No” when asked if you are applying via Common App for a non-exclusive Common App college or university. College or university does not accept electronic transcripts, and your transcript must be mailed via USPS.

On the Colleges tab, scroll below your list of colleges applying to and locate the Teacher Recommendations section. 24 Requesting a Letter of Recommendation

Select the teacher name from the dropdown and enter a personal message. Submit your request by clicking Update Request. 25 Requesting a Letter of Recommendation

Requesting Counselor Letters of Recommendation -Complete Naviance Survey -“About Me” -Click “tasks” -Select “Letter of Recommendation – Counselor” -Email you counselor with the following info: -Let them know you completed the survey -Deadline -Where the letter needs to be sent -What type of application (CA or school app) Pinkstaa@hsd.k12.or.us

Misc. -December 14 th – January 4 th -A College Night in Oregon (11/10) -Test Scores (ACT or SAT) – official test scores may ONLY be sent by YOU. Request ACT scores at www.actstudent.org/scores/send or SAT scores at www.sat.collegeboard.org/scores - If you have not already taken the ACT or SAT you should take those ASAP.
