Actually this is still a mystery, and here are three theories on how this happened. 1.Theory number one is that an object the size of a Earth or larger hit Uranus and made Uranus tilt 2.Theory number two is that multiple asteroids or objects hit Uranus at about the same time,causing the tilt (this theory is the theory that most scientists believe) 3.Theory number three is that when the planets were created, a moon that belonged to Uranus (that has been ejected) was large enough that this moon, and the other moons, were able to tilt the planet to its side. This theory has been tested by scientists through simulations and it has worked many times.
