2  Impact to the thigh, compressing muscle against femur  S/Sx: Pain, Loss of ROM, Swelling, Discoloration  Tx: RICE, Compression, Gentle Stretching  Myositis Ossificans: Bone formation in thigh after repeated bruises

3  Overstretch, Tear of Muscle (Grades 1,2,3)  Causes: Sudden Overstretch, Sudden Sprint; Running, Jumping, Twisting  S/Sx: Pain, Swelling, Loss of ROM, Discoloration, Weakness  Tx: RICE, Crutches, Surgery?

4  Rare in Athletics, Occurs from a fall or direct hit  More common in car accidents  S/Sx: Pain, Deformity, Swelling, Loss of ROM, SHOCK  Tx: 911, Splint, Surgery

5  Iliac Crest Contusion  “Bruised Hip”  Direct hit to the Iliac crest  S/Sx: Pain, Muscle Spasm, Discoloration, Swelling  Tx: RICE, Crutches, Referral for X-Rays
