Groups of Organisms Do Now: You have learned 3 ways to classify organisms so far. List the different categories they can be put into for each of the following: 1.Domains of Life 2.Trophism 3.Oxygen use

Domains There are 3 domains of life: –Archaea: prokaryotic extremists that resemble the original cells on Earth. –Bacteria: common prokaryotes in soil, water, skin, etc. –Eukarya: protists, fungi, plants, animals.

Trophism Get carbon from food to build molecules Use inorganic carbon (CO 2 ) to build molecules Get energy directly (light) PhotoheterotrophPhotoautotroph Get energy from chemicals ChemoheterotrophChemoautotroph

Oxygen Use Anaerobic organisms do not use oxygen. Aerobic organisms require oxygen Facultative anaerobes will use oxygen if it is available Microaerophilic organisms need a little oxygen

Combinations Joe the microbiologist is studying an organism that requires oxygen to get the carbon and energy it needs from food. The cells of the organism have nuclei. The organism is A.An anaerobic prokaryotic photoautotroph B.An aerobic eukaryotic chemoautotroph C.A microaerophilic prokaryotic chemoheterotroph D.An aerobic eukaryotic photoheterotroph E.An aerobic eukaryotic chemoheterotroph …JUST LIKE YOU!

Good Luck! ;)
