Offers hands-on training, class work, and possible assistance with job placement and certifications. Trade school generally costs more than an ROP program. COMMUNITY COLLEGE Requirements: High School Graduate Enroll online in March of Senior Year No SAT/ACT required Placement tests in Math and English are required More than 100 campuses Earn a Career/Technical certificate Associates Degree (AA)(AS) Transfer Degree to a 4-year

Maintain high grades and good study habits Participate in extracurricular activities, clubs, sports etc… Participate in community service Take PSAT/SAT tests seriously Visit college campuses/websites Take a community college course Get to know yourself Planning For College

CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY AND UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 4 years Language Arts 3 years Mathematics (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2) (4 years recommended) 2 years Social Science (World History, U.S. History) 2 years Laboratory Science (Biology and Chemistry) (3 years recommended) (Physical Science OK for CSU) 2 years Language Other Than English (3 years recommended) 1 year Visual/Performing Art 1 year College Prep Elective ( For example – Govt/Econ would fulfill this requirement)

CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY AND UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS (cont.) CSU/UC will only accept a “C” or better each semester in any college prep class to qualify a student for admission to the college. UC requires SAT or ACT with Writing (SAT II Subject Test optional) CSU requires SAT or ACT Start taking these tests in the Spring of your Junior year!!!!!!

REASONS TO TAKE MATH ALL 4 YEARS OF HIGH SCHOOL Shows colleges that you are challenging yourself Great preparation for math college placement test Great preparation for college classes If you test below college level math, you will have to take MORE math classes to reach college level math (which means MORE money out of your pocket and more time)

Why would you need summer school? - F in a high school graduation requirement class - Remember Cs or better are required for the following: - 4 year college admission requirements - Advancing to next level of Math or Language Other Than English How do you get enrolled in summer school? - Applications become available in March/April in counseling - It’s YOUR responsibility to obtain the application from your counselor When in doubt see your counselor! SUMMER SCHOOL

HELPFUL TIPS Use your agenda Do your homework every night (about 30 minutes per academic class) Turn in your work on time Check Aeries.net often Seek help from your teachers Go to peer tutoring in the library after school Tues, Wed and Thurs 2:45 – 3:30
