3 The main objective To prepare students and staff of technologically oriented Slovak companies for future participation in real scientific and technological ESA projects.

4 Technical steps 1.Organize series of motivational lectures covering broader subject of space related technologies and research. 2.Organize specialized lectures covering in detail selected space technologies. 3.Organize intensive course for between 10 to 20 students, including their visit to space related center in Europe. 4.Create working group promoting design and construction of small scientific satellite.

5 Motivational lectures History of space flight and basics of rocket propulsion and technology (basic info about ESA history, structure, purpose and achievements, solid, liquid fuel rocket engines, launch trajectories, multi stage rockets). History of spaceflight and associated space systems (satellites, space probes, human spaceflight, singe and multiuse space systems). Our understanding of solar system and nearby universe (Sun as closest star, rocky planets, gas giants, planetoids, comets, Kuiper belt, Oort cloud). History and evolution of the Universe (galaxies, clusters of galaxies, expansion of universe, relict microwave background, Big Bang, dark matter and energy) History of Slovak participation in space research (subsystems build for Intersputnik programe).

6 Specialized lectures Orbital mechanics. Chemical and electrical propulsion systems. Mechanics of landing the cosmic probes. Principles of space communication systems. Power sources of satellites and deep space probes. Sensors for orbit control and orientation stabilization of satellites and space probes. On board computers and robotic technologies in space applications. Basics of Earth, planets and other cosmic objects observation techniques. Modern navigation systems. Basic and material research related to space technologies.

7 Intensive course Communication with satellites and space probes Energy sources for cosmic probes and mobile robots Spacecraft attitude control in space Principles of landing and motion of mobile robots on solid and liquid surfaces Navigation and localization of mobile robots in space Earth observing satellites and cosmic probes for solar system objects exploration Principles of electromagnetic sensor systems Technology of space probes design Remote control and autonomy of mobile robotic probes Applications of robotic technology in cosmic space Human space flight specific topics

8 Student’s project The final part of proposed agenda is to engage the most enthusiastic students to participate in building CubeSat satellite mock-up (model). The objective isn’t to build fully space qualified satellite, rather scale and functional prototype, equipped with all necessary subsystems.

9 Problem Areas we might be confronted with little interest from knowledgeable students and lecturers if this will become a problem, we will try to attract participants from other universities in Slovakia to avoid this to grow into serious problem we take into account possibility to invite foreign lecturers, from nearby ESA member countries, not only for intensive part of course, but more regularly to stimulate student’s interest we will need to carry on information campaign through all available channels. faculty (university) related problems might turn our life truly miserable....
