Hymn 122 If I Have Not Charity
2
Verse 1 Though I speak with tongues of men, though I speak as angels,
3
If I have not charity I am become as nothing.
4
I become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal;
5
With the gift of prophecy, still I am as nothing.
6
Verse 2 Though I know all mysteries, though I have all knowledge,
7
If I have not charity I am become as nothing.
8
Though I give all I possess, let my body burn;
9
If I have not charity, then I am as nothing.
10
Verse 3 Charity will suffer long, charity is kind,
11
Envies not nor vaunts itself, behaveth not unseemly,
12
Seeketh not to have her way, nor is easily angered;
13
If I have not charity, then I am as nothing.
14
Verse 4 Charity rejoiceth not in iniquity,
15
But rejoiceth in the truth; believes and bears all things;
16
Hopes all things; endures all things; never thinketh evil.
17
If I have not charity, then I am as nothing.
18
Last Verse Whether there be prophecies, whether there be knowledge,
19
These shall likewise pass away, but charity remaineth.
20
Faith and hope and charity, all of these abide;
21
But among the three of these, charity is greatest.
