SIGNS OF UNBELIEF
3
Israelites did not enter their rest because of unbelief. Disobedience is failure to heed God’s words. Example (Exodus 16:4-5, 16-20, 25-28). Unbelief manifested itself in the disobedience of God’s people (Hebrews 3:16-19).
4
“He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.” (Mark 16:16). Unbelief manifested itself in the disobedience of God’s people (Hebrews 3:16-19).
5
Be warned about persons who corrupt the gospel (Jude 3-4). Like Korah’s rebellion (Jude 8, 11). Proud Korah contested the authoritative roles of Moses and of Aaron (Numbers 16:3, 8-11). Opposing God’s arrangement of authority is a sign of unbelief.
6
It is unbelief when we in our pride are unwilling to accept the oversight of God- ordained elders? Or the service of deacons? Or the leading roles of godly men over women? Or the lowly ministries given to us members? Opposing God’s arrangement of authority is a sign of unbelief.
7
Moses was on the mountain with God for 40 days and 40 nights, but the people became impatient (Exodus 24:18; 31:18; 32:1). An attack on the trustworthiness of Jehovah. Impatience with God is an early sign of unbelief.
8
“…The testing of your faith produces patience. And let patience have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (James 1:3, 4). Impatience with God is an early sign of unbelief.
9
Israel was greatly blessed with heavenly provisions (1 Corinthians 10:1-5). Yet they grumbled (10:10). Grumbling and complaining are signs of a believer’s littleness of faith.
10
“Do all things without grumbling and disputing.” (Philippians 2:14) “Be hospitable to one another without complaint.” (1 Peter 4:9) Grumbling and complaining are signs of a believer’s littleness of faith.
11
Jesus taught that at all times disciples ought to pray and not lose heart doing so. Parable of the persistent widow (Luke 18:1-5). Diminishing prayers are early signs of unbelief.
12
“…Will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them?...However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:7, 8) Diminishing prayers are early signs of unbelief.
