3 What does ‘=’ mean? Yes, equals. So what does equals mean? The equals symbol is the centre of equations.

4 Comparing Amounts A way to compare amounts of things is with the use of balancing. If the balance is level, the amounts are equal. = This is a theoretical balance, it is not meant to be realistic. Please assume all items on the balance are equal distance from the pivot.
