Forum Ratings: Aggregation The aggregate type defines how ratings are combined to form the final grade in the gradebook for that forum activity.

Aggregation Types Maximum rating - The highest rating becomes the final grade Minimum rating - The smallest rating becomes the final grade Average of ratings - The mean of all ratings Count of ratings - The number of rated items becomes the final grade. Note that the total cannot exceed the maximum grade for the activity. Sum of ratings - All ratings are added together. Note that the total cannot exceed the maximum grade for the activity. No ratings - The activity will not appear in the gradebook

Example: Forum Activity Worth 20 points For Maximum rating & Minimum rating, each post & response would be rated out of 20 points. For student A:Grade in Gradebook: Post #1: 18/20 Response #1: 19/20Maximum rating aggregation – 19/20 Response #2: 15/20Minimum rating aggregation – 15/20 Response #3: 18/20

Example: Forum Activity Worth 20 points For the Average of Ratings, each post & response would be rated out of 20 points. For student A:Grade in Gradebook: Post #1: 18/20 Response #1: 19/20(18+19+15+18)/4 = 17.5/20 Response #2: 15/20 Response #3: 18/20

Example: Forum Activity Worth 20 points For the Count of Ratings, each post & response can be rated out of 20 points. However, the grade wills till simply be the number of times the student posts. Note that the total cannot exceed the maximum grade for the activity. For student A:Grade in Gradebook: Post #1: 18/20 Response #1: 19/20 Count of Ratings – 4/20 Response #2: 15/20 Response #3: 18/20

Example: Forum Activity Worth 20 points For the Sum of Ratings, each post & response would be rated, adding up to 20 points. Note that the total cannot exceed the maximum grade for the activity. For student A:Grade in Gradebook: Post #1: 8 [/20] (instructor states that the student could earn up to 10 points for initial post) Response #1: 5 [/20] (student could earn up to 5 points for the first two responses) Response #2: 4 [/20] (student could earn up to 5 points for the first two responses) Response #3: No ratingGrade = 17/20
