4 PURPOSE OF GROUP informal, no policy decisions or formal collaborations large-scale science assessment (not focusing on classroom or formative assessments, unless they are being incorporated into a larger, state-mandated assessment system) sharing resources learning what others are doing group to bounce ideas off of other? 5 IDEAS FOR FUTURE DISCUSSIONS/WEBINARS Overview of state system of a science assessment: models out there or are currently being developed components of a state-level system psychometrics of new assessment models transitioning between standards New Item Development: example items assessing practice/content; discuss pros and cons models of item types or groups of items tips/resources from those who have experience writing items with practices & content integrated development of item content specifications and item practice specifications development of cognitive skill level descriptions based on NGSS or NGSS-like standards Large-Scale Performance Assessments: NECAP administers PAs each year (examples, pros, cons) MA and OH are both working on prototypes with different approaches Lessons to learn from presently funded consortia (e.g., PARCC, Smarter Balanced) (including “performance-based assessments” and use of evidence centered design models) Unique challenges of large scale assessment Other (open for discussion)
