State OSL&P sponsored initiative ◦ Combination of Response to Intervention (RTI) and Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) Federal fiscal support: ◦ State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG). phonetically “spadig”. ◦ Competitive 5 year grants from US DOE Office of Special Education & Rehabilitation Services (OSERS). ◦ EBISS conceptualized when Oregon submitted SPDG application in 2006.

Oregon awarded SPDG in 2006 (birth of EBISS). About 1 million/year for 5 years 2006-2011 (fiscal year Oct. 1-Sept. 30). Projects also funded by 2006 SPDG: scholarships No cost extension (NCE) of 2006 SPDG granted - end date extended to June 30, 2012. Oregon awarded another SPDG in Sept 2011 funding for additional 5 year cycle (2011-2016). Focus of 2011 SPDG is somewhat different: Breadth, Depth, CCSS, SLP cohorts. http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=3474 http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=3474

Formula used to determine $ amounts EBISS districts received. Formula based on district size & travel distance. No cost extension funds for the 2011-2012 academic year were distributed without use of formula. 2006 extension funds for 2011-2012 academic year totaled ~$8,200. Last extension funds will require deliverable submission before last 10% of award can be claimed..
