ANSE NSF funded joint project between CalTech, Michigan, Vanderbilt, UTA Project ended in 2014 (no cost extension for 6 months into 2015) UTA effort 0.5 FTE for 2 years Additional 0.5 FTE effort from DOE ASCR/HEP funded BigPanDA Build capability to use network information in PanDA brokering Work completed in summer 2014 Demonstrated at SC15 Last ~6 months of ANSE tried SDN SDN provisioning Initial explorations – no usable code/capability from ANSE June 29, 2015 Kaushik De 2

How do we continue? PanDA-XRootD work continuing through US ATLAS funds What about SDN? No new external funding for this work We should organize US ATLAS proposals There are no fully working end-to-end distributed systems today We expect systems to start showing up in 1-2 years ATLAS can benefit from early adoption US ATLAS planning needed Realistically, this is a long term project June 29, 2015 Kaushik De 5
