2 ANSE  NSF funded joint project between CalTech, Michigan, Vanderbilt, UTA  Project ended in 2014 (no cost extension for 6 months into 2015)  UTA effort  0.5 FTE for 2 years  Additional 0.5 FTE effort from DOE ASCR/HEP funded BigPanDA  Build capability to use network information in PanDA brokering  Work completed in summer 2014  Demonstrated at SC15  Last ~6 months of ANSE tried SDN  SDN provisioning  Initial explorations – no usable code/capability from ANSE June 29, 2015 Kaushik De 2

5 How do we continue?  PanDA-XRootD work continuing through US ATLAS funds  What about SDN?  No new external funding for this work  We should organize US ATLAS proposals  There are no fully working end-to-end distributed systems today  We expect systems to start showing up in 1-2 years  ATLAS can benefit from early adoption  US ATLAS planning needed  Realistically, this is a long term project June 29, 2015 Kaushik De 5
