What are your perceptions of the role of physical therapists in sexuality education? What obstacles/challenges do you foresee for people with neurologic dysfunction / disability trying to establish fulfilling sexual relationships? What is your comfort level with talking about sexuality?

How would you feel discussing more “controversial” topics, such as masturbation, use of sexual devices, sex surrogacy, or facilitated sex? Who, what and where are your resources for such issues? In consideration of such issues, what if any ethical conflicts do you foresee?

Sexuality Issues – Fertility / Reproductive Interventions Some individuals, such as those with SCI or TBI, may require fertility and/or reproductive interventions to increase the likelihood of pregnancy. Consider… Current options for SCI include medications, electrostimulation and vibratory stimulation. Fertility interventions for persons with brain injury appear focused on hormone therapy.
