RULER A METAL RULER is the most important measuring tool. It is usually 12” or 24” long.

SCRIBER It is a very thin steel tool sharpened to a point. It is used to scratch lines and measurements on metal.

A SCRIBER is considered the “metalworker’s pencil”.

2 TYPES OF PUNCHERS 1. PRICK PUNCH- Is used in sheet metal work to locate the center of an arc or hole.

2. CENTEPUNCH- Is used to mark holes to be drilled.

OUTSIDE CALIPER Is used to measure the outside dimensions of either flat or round stock.

INSIDE CALIPER Is used to measure the diameter of holes.

DIVIDER It is used for inscribing arcs and circles and for transferring measurements directly from the rule.

COMBINATION SQUARE It has a blade and a head that can slide along this blade to be locked in any position.
