2 What was the Cold War? Battle of ideas between United States and Soviet Union. Not an actual war between those countries. Used words and wars between smaller countries to fight each other. Lasted from 1946-1991.

3 What caused the Cold War? US & USSR only superpowers after WWII. –Each wanted to be strongest. Different political and economic systems. –Democracy (US) vs. Dictatorship (USSR) –Capitalism (US) vs. Communism (USSR)

6 How was the Cold War fought? Arms Race –Nuclear weapons (who has the biggest, most) Military Alliances –NATO for US, Warsaw Pact for USSR Wars between one superpower and smaller country. –Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan Accomplishments –Space race, Olympics
