RESPONSIBILITIES Model, texture and create collision in 3D for game environments. Works closely with Programmers to ensure polygon counts and texture sizes are fully optimized for target platforms while minimizing any impact on artistic integrity of assets. Participates in R&D of new techniques to implement into production pipeline. Proactively seeks feedback from Lead Artist, Producer and Creative Director. Ensures that artistic style is consistent with defined visual style for the game QUALIFICATIONS 2+ years of post-secondary educational experience in 2D and 3D art production. Superior 2D and 3D art skills. Eagerness to learn new software tools and technologies. Ability to work in a team setting, under deadlines and time constraints. Expertise in 3ds Max, Photoshop, or other technologies utilized in the production of game art. Strong technical background with ability to grasp new programs and systems quickly. Ability to work with a high degree of self-direction and motivation. Strong communication and time management skills. Able to prioritize and multi-task. Creative nature with strong problem solving skills. Game experience preferred.

During the development of the game the game designer is responsible for: making sure that the rest of the team (including programmers, artists, animators, producers and audio engineers) understand the concept of the game making adjustments to the original specification to reflect technical constraints and new programming or artistic developments from the team training testers to play the game - they make sure that it works in the way it is meant to making sure the game experience meets the original vision. A computer games designer should: be creative, imaginative and original be fluent in a number of software packages have a thorough understanding of the market and target audience for computer games have problem-solving skills have storytelling ability have excellent communication and presentation skills understand the capabilities and benefits of different hardware including PCs, consoles and mobile devices, as well as the relevant software technologies and techniques have basic drawing and 3D design skills be able to adapt quickly to change work well in a team and alone work well under pressure and be able to meet deadlines take criticism well be willing to keep up to date with new developments and trends in the computer games market.
