9 JEWS IN CHRISTIAN EUROPE Ashkenazim Northern, Central, Eastern Europe Sephardim Spain, Portugal, North Africa Both groups had immeasurable influence on the intellectual, economic, cultural and spiritual lives Yet: still considered “other” & set apart
