3 BIOGRAPHY Dr. Subbiah Alwarappan received his BSc (Chemistry) and MSc (Chemistry) degrees from India. Later he has been awarded the Australian Government’s IPRS Fellowship for his PhD. He completed his PhD (Aug 2006) at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. After the completion of his PhD, he moved to the United States for a postdoctoral position at the University of Iowa, Iowa City between Oct 2006-Oct 2007. Later, he moved to Florida International University, Miami, FL where he worked with Prof. Chen-Zhong Li for two years between Nov 2007-Oct 2009. After this position, he moved to University of South Florida, Tampa, FL and was worked there between Nov 2009 - Feb 2013 as a research associate. During this period he also served as a consultant for the Transgenex Nanobiotech Inc. and also for Center for Nanobiotechnology Research at Alabama State University, Montgomery, AL. Dr. Alwarappan’s research interests include ultramicroelectrodes, electrochemical nanobiosensors, bio-devices, DNA sensors, electrocatalysis and drug delivery via nanocarriers and nanomotors. He has published more than 35 peer-reviewed research articles and authored 3 book chapters and 1 book. He is also a recurring reviewer for more than 45 journals and 2 grant agencies (American Chemical Society and Israeli Ministry of Science). At present, Dr. Subbiah Alwarappan is working as a Senior Scientist at CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research institute, a National lab based in India.
