Biomolecules Day 2!!! Woo!!!

Bizarre Foods https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icH MAwhkURs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icH MAwhkURs What is found in food? Why is it important to eat? What items are considered food? What are some reasons that you eat?
3
Expert Groups! Groups of 4 Each member of the group will become on EXPERT on 1 biomolecule (Proteins, Lipids, Carbohydrates, Nucleic Acids) Group #1: Proteins Group #2: Lipids Group #3: Carbohydrates Group #4: Nucleic Acids
4
What do we need to know about each Biomolecule? Functions Subunits Structure Specific Examples Images Each group will post all findings on a specific padlet – links will be found on the following slide

After you return to your original group … Now you’re in a group with 4 experts Together, you need to create a Tree Map titled “Biomolecules” – each individual will then complete their section of the Tree Map – should be on white board or other large area Take picture, post on Google Classroom when finished
9
Synthesize In your notebooks, on your Biomolecules notes section, you will now individually synthesize the information on the four biomolecules. Compare, contrast, include function, structure, examples, etc. Must include all 4 biomolecules Partner Read
10
Prove It! Which of the following describes a carbohydrate? A: Supplies energy and fiber B: Is a component of plant cell walls C: Is part of DNA’s structure D: All of the above
11
Prove It! TRUE or FALSE: Each of the biomolecules we have discussed are complex molecules made from smaller molecules.
12
Prove It! Which of the following biomolecules is made up of amino acids? A: Protein B: Lipid C: Nucleic Acid D: Carbohydrate
13
Prove It! List 2 biomolecules and 1 function for each
14
Prove It! Is the above molecule a nucleic acid, fatty acid, amino acid, or none of the above?
