GRADING POLICY

HOW A GRADE IS DETERMINED 50% Tests, Quizzes, and Projects 50% Class Work and Home Work

CLASS WORK AND HOME WORK  Class work and home work make up exactly 50% of the grade (weighted at 50%)  Graded based on completion, instead of performance  Every page of class work and every page of home work is worth 10 points  You can turn in class work and home work up to 72 hours late (exactly 3 days) and get full credit. Any later than that and the work will NOT be accepted (except for extreme circumstances)  In the future, there might be extra credit opportunities for you to make up missing credit from missing assignments. I’ll see what comes up.

TESTS, QUIZZES, AND PROJECTS  Testing results make up exactly 50% of the grade (weighted at 50%)  Graded based on performance  You can retake any part of any test you miss within 7 days of the test with no penalty to your grade. However you must do this outside of class time (before class, nutrition, lunch, etc)  Extra credit will never apply to tests and quizzes. If you want to improve your score, you must retake (part) of the test within 7 days of the test.

FIRST TEST IS THURSDAY 9/4/2014  First test is Wednesday 9/3/2014  Next slides are examples of the problems on the test tomorrow

ADDITION Positive + PositiveNegative + NegativePositive + NegativeNegative + Positive 2 + 4 = 6 - 2 + (-4) = -62 + (-4) = -2 -2 + 4 = 2

SUBTRACTION Positive – PositiveNegative – NegativePositive – NegativeNegative – Positive 2 - 4 = -2 - 2 - (-4) = 22 - (-4) = 6 -2 - 4 = -6

MULTIPLICATION Positive Negative Positive NegativeNegative Positive 2 4 = 8 - 2 (-4) = 82 (-4) = -8 -2 4 = -8

DIVISION Positive ÷ PositiveNegative ÷ NegativePositive ÷ NegativeNegative ÷ Positive 2 ÷ 4 = ½ - 2 ÷ (-4) = ½2 ÷ (-4) = -½ -2 ÷ 4 = -½

DISTRIBUTIVE PROPERTY 3x + 63(x + 2)
