7. GROUP PROJECT GUIDANCE As a group, you need to: 1. Identify the focus of your study; 2. Refer to previous surveys conducted by research workers; 3. Determine the objectives of your survey; 4. Justify key research questions; 5. Plan and design your survey approach; 6. Delegate tasks amongst your group; 7. Conduct a pilot study; 8. Analyse and refine the pilot study instrument; 9. Conduct the main survey; 10. Analyse the data obtained; 11. Identify key outcomes and re-examine research questions; 12. Draw conclusions.

8. GROUP PROJECT GUIDANCE As a group member, remember to: Consult the coursework assessment criteria before you commence writing your survey report. In the past students have lost marks because they have not addressed assessment requirements.

9. SURVEY REPORT GUIDANCE INTRODUCTION As a group member, you need to: 1. Clearly state the reasons for undertaking the survey; 2. Justify these reasons within the context of related literature i.e. other studies, reports etc.; 3. State the objectives of your survey; 4. Justify key research questions arising from the literature review and justify what is feasible in your group’s study; 5. Ensure you acknowledge references in your introduction.

10. SURVEY REPORT GUIDANCE METHODOLOGY As a group member, you need to: 1. Clearly justify your research design and data collection instruments, e.g. questionnaires; 2. Justify the research design and instruments within the context of related literature i.e. other studies, reports etc.; 3. Give an overview of the research design process; 4. Justify key questions asked in research instruments such as questionnaires; 5. Ensure you acknowledge references in your methodology that will substantiate your research design; 6. Outline fully how respondents were targeted and data collected; 7. Give an indication of pilot study findings and follow-up changes to research instruments; 8. Indicate how data was collected in the main survey. 9. Include copies of pilot and main survey questionnaires in your appendix.

11. SURVEY REPORT GUIDANCE SURVEY FINDINGS & PRESENTATION As a group member, you need to: 1. Select & justify the survey data that you wish to present; 2. Only present key findings in the body of the report. Supplementary evidence can be placed in the appendix; 3. Ensure number of respondents is clearly stated; 4. Incorporate key data in the form of figures/tables in main text; 5. Please type your assignment and use appropriate software to create figures e.g. bar charts, tables, Pie diagrams etc.; 6. If presenting qualitative data (based on interviews) include quotations as appropriate to stress a common finding; 7. Include an overview of all survey findings in your appendix; 8. Avoid spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.

12. SURVEY REPORT GUIDANCE ANALYSIS OF DATA & INTERPRETATION As a group member, you need to: 1. Demonstrate your ability to critically analyse the data; 2. Utilise appropriate analyses; 3. Interpret your data in relation to previously justified research questions / hypotheses; 4. Draw comparison with related research studies.

13. SURVEY REPORT GUIDANCE CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATIONS As a group member, you need to: 1. Demonstrate your ability to critically review initial hypotheses / research questions in light of data gathered ; 2. Identify and summarise key findings; 3. Offer personal opinions; 4. Draw comparison with related research studies; 5. Identify weaknesses / limitations (if any) of survey conducted.

14. SURVEY REPORT GUIDANCE BIBLIOGRAPHY & ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE As a group member, you need to: 1. Demonstrate your ability to critically review the literature; 2. Acknowledge all references properly in text and bibliography; 3. Demonstrate evidence of additional reading & information;
