4 Starting Word Choose Microsoft Office > Word from the All Programs menu Use the Quick Launch toolbar Double-click a Word document icon in Explorer 4

12 12 Navigating with the Scroll Bar Scroll up line by line Clicking in the open part moves you up or down Scroll down line by line Page up Page down

13 13 Navigating with the Keyboard Keyboard navigation moves the insertion point Arrow keys navigate one space or line at a time [Page Up] and [Page Down] keys [Home] and [End] go to the start or finish of a line [Ctrl]+[Home] and [Ctrl]+[End] go to the start or finish of the document

14 Closing Documents Close by clicking the File tab Choose Close from the menu Word will prompt you to save your file 14

15 Starting a New Blank Document Start by clicking the File tab Choose the New command for a blank document  [Ctrl]+[N] is the new document shortcut 15

16 16 Getting Help in Word 2010 Click the Help button in the upper-right corner Use the Table of Contents to browse topics Use search to look for a topic

17 Exiting from Word Click the File tab and select the Exit button  You can also use the Close button on the upper-right corner of the Word window Save before shutting down your computer!  You will be prompted to save if you have not done so 17
