Control group- receives NO experimental treatment. Dependent variable-variable that is tested in an experiment. Independent variable- varied in a experiment. Theory-set of related hypotheses that have been tested and confirmed many times by many scientists. Hypothesis- explanation that might be true.

Directions: Design an experiment to answer the following questions. Identify a control group, dependent and independent variables, and possible outcomes or what type of data would be gathered. Be sure to use the scientific method for your experiment.

Group Experiments Group 1- Does Rogaine really improve hair growth? Group 2- Does the hormone estrogen increase the milk yield of dairy cows? Group 3- Does aspirin keep cut roses fresh longer? Group 4- Does the size of a fish tank determine how large a fish will grow? Group 5- Do wounds heal faster when they are covered by Band-Aids? Group 6- Do tanning beds cause skin cancer? Group 7- Which battery lasts longer, Energizer or Duracell?
