Research is about forecasting Forecasting is the final objective of research at CMIE We forecast the macro-economy, the sectors, the companies and the regions We forecast the medium term upto six quarters We intend to extend the forecasts to five years

Research is a service to our customers CMIE forecasts are used by its customers to take business decisions Customers include all economic ministries of the central government, Planning Commission, RBI, regulators, tax authorities, state governments, all major banks in India, large Indian and multinational corporates, consultancy firms, rating agencies, buy-side and sell- side investment firms, FIIs, media and academia.

Your job as an Analyst at CMIE Each Analyst is assigned a set of domains. Your final output is a set of reports on these domains. To achieve this you are expected to Gain an understanding of the domain Understand the various sources of data, their frequencies and their attributes including limitations Understand the framework of analysis used at CMIE for your domain, including the various data presentations Understand the framework for making a set of forecasts for your domain Analyse the data / data presentations and news in the light of your understanding of the domain Take the calls necessary to make forecasts in tandem with the calls made by other relevant domains and generate your set of forecasts Write your report in simple but lucid and effective English within the assigned time-frame.

Compensation to Analysts at CMIE Compensation is a function of your abilities and usefulness to the organisation. The growth in compensation is essentially a function of your performance and the change in your abilities to contribute to the growth of the organisation. The annual cost-to-company for an analyst at CMIE has a wide range from Rs. 3 to 12 lakh per annum. Our offer to you would depend upon our judgment of your abilities and your fit in CMIE.
