Introduction A watchman’s duty is to warn of danger. Old Testament for our learning (Rom 15:4) Declare what he seeth. (Is. 21:6) If he fails, his blood is upon his own soul. (Ez. 3:17-18)

The Need for Watchmen The devil seeks to devour. (I Pet. 5:8) Grievous wolves abound. (Acts 20:29) Some are perverse. (Acts 20:30; Gal. 1:7)

The Work of a Watchman See present or approaching evils. Elders are watchmen. (Heb. 13:17) Preachers are watchmen (II Tim. 4:5) Watchmen “Cry aloud, spare not.” (Is. 58:1) Errors must be exposed. (Isa. 21:6) Sinners to be rebuked. (I Tim. 5:20; Gal. 2:14)
