View From The Top “You've climbed the highest mountain in the world. What's left ? It's all downhill from there. You've got to set your sights on something higher than Everest." Willi Unsoeld Everest Climber 1963
4
What is higher than Everest? We must set our sights on the Highest – God of the universe. As Christians we realize we have been raised to the highest heights. How does this knowledge affect us? How does it serve to make us effective as the church.
5
Colossians 3:1-4 We have been raised with Christ Raised from the dead Raised to the heights of heaven
6
Romans 6:4 -- We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
7
Ephesians 2:6 -- And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus…. How does this affect our personal attitudes and philosphies?
8
Hearts on Things Above: Provides encouragement for our godly walk. 1 Corinthians 3:1, 3 -- Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly— mere infants in Christ…You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere men? Worldliness happens if our hearts are not focused above.
9
Matthew 15:8 -- These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. The danger of lip service without heart worship.
10
Minds on things above: What have we set our minds on?
11
Romans 8:5-6 -- Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace. Are we worldly minded? Or spirit minded?
12
2 Corinthians 4:4 -- The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. Don’t let Satan blind your mind.
13
Ephesians 4:22-24 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
14
Toward Eternal Glory Colossians 3:4 -- When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Christ IS our life. We will appear with Him in glory. Our lives are hidden with Him in God. Glory will be ours. Where is your heart? Your mind?
