Creating a character In order to become a character, you need to change – Emotionally – Physically The way you look- costumes, makeup, wigs Your voice The way you stand/walk

Creating a character: To change emotionally, actors use the following: Review: Motivation- The character’s reason for doing what they do. Objectives- The character’s goal. Tactics- The ways the character tries to reach their goal. Obstacle- The things that get in the way of their character achieving their goal.

Creating a character: Voice Rate- How quickly or slowly you speak. Volume- How loud or quiet. Tone- The quality of your voice, like accents, or nasally tones, sick tones, etc. Pitch- Not monotone, using inflection.

Creating a Character: Body – Use your whole body to create a character: forehead, back, fingers, shoulders, teeth, lips, etc. Facial expressions Posture Pace Quirks/habits /repetitive gestures – Adjusts glasses, twirls hair, eye twitch, etc.)
