3. 2 During the summer term the children have been working on the Wild Life Garden during the Out Of School Hours Learning. Each Wednesday a group would put on their wellies and start digging!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. 3 The Wild Life Garden lies at the bottom of the school field. Originally it was an area of wasteland but was given to the school by a developer, who has been building new houses adjacent to the site.

5. 4 Teachers and parents worked with the children in the garden. In the beginning the ground was very hard and stony and full of weeds. It was hard work!!!!!!!

6. 5 Part of the garden has been used as a wild life pond. The ground was cleared and filled by the developer. The children then planted a variety of water plants to encourage mini beasts.

7. 6 Bark covered paths have been laid around the garden and several trees planted. In time these will attract butterflies and bees.

8. 7 The teachers ended up in the deep water!!!!!!! The children worked at the shallow edges where they placed the baskets of water loving plants.

9. 8 Work will continue throughout the year to develop the garden into an attractive haven for our local mini beasts. There’s lots more to be done!!!!!
