PT Activities @ Enabling Grids for E-Science European Grid for multidisciplinary sciencies – Leading project in the field worldwide LIP is the only founded Portuguese partner but since EGEE III, many other unfounded partners have joined 7178208 1KSI2K CPU Normalized hours 16.4 % of the SWE total 3386631 jobs 18.0 % of the SWE total
4
Activities @ EELA EELA: E-science grid facility for Europe and Latin America – Push for the development of the Latin America research – Feed-up this infrastructure with the state of the European state of the art technology Some of the unfounded Portuguese partners in EGEE are also participating in EELA – 18 partners & 60 institutes joined in 13 Joint Research Units Partner: Universidade do Porto Portuguese Joint Research Unit o Universidade de Aveiro o Universidade do Minho – 5000 slots / ~ 37 TB storage http://eoc.eu-eela.eu/doku.php?id=statistics

5 INGRID: An Interoperable infrastructure Create an autonomous grid infrastructure based on new and existing resources – Based on middleware widely in use gLite, Int.Eu.Grid Infrastructures and projects INGRID EGI IBERGRID LCG… Main node Existing resources (EGEE, Int.EU.Grid, EELA, INGRID projects...) Other resources Users Deployed services @ INGRID VOMS, LFC, PX, TOP-BDII PT NGI VOS IBERGRID WMS, XB EGEE PT NGI IBERGRID Computing and Storage resources EGEE PT NGI IBERGRID

Lines of actions @ INGRID Grid infrastructure @NCG started operation in Aug 2009 NCG-INGRID-PT 11.7 % of the SWE total jobs 9.0% of the SWE total Norm CPU time NCG-INGRID-PT resources almost fully taken by WLCG
7
Lines of actions @ INGRID Projects already allowed to use NCG resources – BING (Rede Nacional de Imagiologia Cerebral) – Auger PT collaboration – Many others currently in evaluation EDGES, Pfound, g-Cast In the near future – Cloud Computing Attempt for an “on-demand” infrastructure OCEAN project under EU evaluation o LIP was proposed as the infrastructure leader – High Performance Computing (HPC) For parallel applications with demanding latency requirements
