Lesson Objectives By the end of the lesson you will: 1.Be able to send, receive, reply and forward emails in a suitable format. 2.Be able to use and explain what is meant by CC and BCC. 3.Be able to attach files to an email.

Cc Cc stands for…… The detention slips at school have 2 carbon copies If you add someone to the Cc box they will receive an exact copy of the email. People who the email is intended for go into the To box however if you want someone else to get a copy for their reference, then they are added to the Cc box. For example…. Carbon Copy Create new messages using address, subject, reply, forward, carbon copy, blind carbon copy, attach file(s)

Cc Example Sends her work To Keith She also Cc’s Me! So that I can see who has done what work and who is slacking!!

Bcc Bcc Stands for… This works in the same way as Cc however it allows you to send emails to extra people without the other recipients knowing…. Blind Carbon Copy

Task 1 - Questions Write a definition for CC and BCC. Stick the example email into your books. Answer the following questions. 1.Who is the email to? 2.Who will receive a copy of the email? 3.Who’s email address will be kept private? 4.What attachment has been sent? 5.What is the subject of the email? EXTENSION: Make sure you write your answers in full sentences or revision will be impossible! RESOURCEFULNESS Imagination - Why would somebody use BCC? - Why do people use the subject line?

Task 2 – Searching and Sending Spend 1 minute finding an appropriate but funny picture and save it to your user area. Send an email which meets the following criteria: – To the person sitting next to you – CC’d to somebody on the other side of the room – BCC’d to your teacher – Has a suitable subject – Has a suitable message – Has your funny image attached.

Task 3 – Self-Review Look at the email you sent from your Sent Items. Write down the mistakes you made and what you need to do to improve next time you send an email. Remember it should be professional!

Task 4 – Exam Questions Describe CC [2] CC stands for carbon copy. This is when an exact copy of the email is sent another person for their information. Describe BCC[2] BCC stands for Blind Carbon Copy. This sends a copy of the email to this person but keeps their email address private from other recipients.
