St Clement of Alexandria a.d. 153–217  Thus also we who are baptized, having wiped off the sins which obscure the light of the Divine Spirit, have the eye of the spirit free, unimpeded, and full of light, by which alone we contemplate the Divine, the Holy Spirit flowing down to us from above.  The Instructor – Chapter VI

3. 1. The Spirit of Power “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 1 Tim 1:7

4. 2. He healed him  Then one was brought to Him who was demon- possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw. Matt 12:22

5. 3. No sound mind Now when the Pharisees heard it they said, “This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.” Matt 12:24

6. Restored authority  18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. LK 10:18,19

7. Kingdom has come  But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. Col 2:6,7

8. Origen  As now by participation in the Son of God one is adopted as a son, and by participating in that wisdom which is in God is rendered wise, so also by participation in the Holy Spirit is a man rendered holy and spiritual. Origen De Principiis. Book IV Chapter I.32

9. Test  29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner[e] eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. 1 Cor 11:29-31
