Radiate For this is what the Lord has commanded us: I have made you a light for the Gentiles to bring salvation to the end of the earth. Acts 13:47

Radiate : to go out in a direct line from a central point or area : to move in a specified direction from a source

The Backstory This is the point in the journey where John Mark leaves them to return to Jerusalem Paul and Barnabas preach the gospel in the synagogue at Antioch They ask to hear the message again the next week But when they get there the Jews in that town are jealous of the large crowds that have gathered to hear them So they began to insult Paul Then they turn their attention to the Gentiles

The Content Eternal life is available to everyone regardless of ethnicity Paul laid out the history of God’s redemptive work all the way through Christ’s resurrection He closed with this statement: Therefore, let it be known to you, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you, and everyone who believes in Him is justified from everything that you could not be justified from through the law of Moses.

The Outcome Many Gentiles believed The message of the Lord spread throughout the whole region But some of the Jews stirred up others and had Paul and Barnabas expelled from their city Yet the disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit

The Call We believe we have been placed here by the Lord to radiate His love, His grace, His truth, and His justice to our campuses. First and foremost, that means holding out the gospel of Jesus as the only hope for salvation for all peoples The light of the gospel shines brightest when the culture surrounding God’s people is the darkest Tonight the central question is whether you believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior A second question is if you do, how are you going to radiate His love to others on campus this year?

The Call Secondly, we believe we are here as ambassadors of the kingdom of God to speak truth into our culture. We must do so with grace and love without sacrificing that truth Russell Moore has written in his newest book, ONWARD, “In our social witness, we are having a two-way conversation. We are speaking to those on the outside, and we are modeling to our own people what it means to be conformed by the gospel to the image of Christ in every aspect of our lives.” We must train ourselves how to speak effectively into the culture to represent our Savior well and seek to live out the values that we hold to be the outcome of our study of God’s word.

Shining like Stars In Philippians 2:15 Paul writes, “Do everything without grumbling and arguing, 15 so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God who are faultless in a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine like stars in the world. Jesus’ Love is what makes us RADIATE It doesn’t matter how dark the night is if you are made to GLOW IN THE DARK, in fact it makes you stand out more!
