动名词作主语往往表示一般性的动作。并列句时 两个分句具有一致性, 都中用动名词作主语。 1. Fishing is his favorite hobby, and ________. A. he’d like to collect coins as well B. he feels like collecting coins, too C. to collect coins is also his hobby D. collecting coins also gives him great pleasure DD

(一)动名词作主语: 1. Having enough passion is not enough if you want to do this job well. 2. Eating more fruit every day is helpful to keep you away from SARS. 动名词词组作真正的主语: It’s no good smoking, so you’d better give it up . It’s no use arguing with him . 改错: He being elected secretary of the League Branch was not a surprise to us. His being… 他今天来晚了使得老师很生气。 His coming late made the teacher angry.

He is proud of his son’s winning the first prize. 6. Their funds are adequate for meeting their moderate needs. 7. Their preparations for travelling abroad were very time-consuming.

1. 只跟动名词,如: postpone, delay, feel like, dislike, enjoy, fancy, imagine avoid, escape, miss, deny, resist, consider, excuse, finish, involve, practise, suggest, stand, risk, mind, appreciate 2. To+ 名词 / 动名词: come to, turn to, object to, lead to, belong to, look forward to, be used to, pay attention to, devote …to, dedicate…to 等。

3. 既可跟动名词也可跟不定式,但其意义不同,如: stop doing A stop to do B remember to do 未做 remember doing 已做 forget to do 未做 forget doing 已做 regret to do 未做 regret doing 已做 try to do (尽力去做) try doing (尝试去做,按常规来看,此句型包含着一 件事情的做法不合适,因此尝试用另外的方法) mean to do (打算去做) mean doing (意味着 …… )

4. 注意动名词的被动形式。如: He didn’t mind being left alone at home. (四)动名词作定语: She bought a writing desk. There is a beautiful reading room in the school. (动名词做定语表示用途,如: a writing desk means a desk for writing )

二、有关动名词各种形式的注意点 1. 一般性动作, 即不是明确地发生在过去、现在或将 来的动作, 或是与谓语动词所表示的动作同时发生的 动作 : I appreciate talking with such people. Being careless is not a good habit. 2. 完成式表示的动作发生在谓语动词动作之前 I don’t remember having met him before. 我记不得以前见 过他。 Thank you for having taken so much trouble to help. 3. not doing: His not being able to pass the exam made the teacher unhappy.

4. 名词用被动式。 (1) 同时发生 : I don’t like being laughed at in public. (2) 完成式表示的动作发生在谓语动词之前 : I am very pleased at your having been honoured with a medal. (3) 某些动词尽管动作发生在谓语动词动作之前, 这似 乎是一种习惯。例如 : Excuse me for being late. I don’t remember ever meeting you somewhere. Thank you for giving us so much help. (4) 动名词被动语态 : She is afraid of being shown to strangers.
