Essential Questions 1.How are the slopes of lines found? 2. How are linear equations using the intercepts method and the slope- intercept method graphed? 3. How is the equation of a line written given information about the graph?
4
Slope of a line m = The slope of the graph of the linear equation Ax + By = C, (B 0), is - A. B
5
x- and y- intercepts
6
Standard Form: The graph of any equation that can be written in the form Ax + By = C where A and B are not both zero, is a line. (*Note: A, B, and C are integers.) Slope – Intercept Form: A line with the equation y = mx + b has slope m and y-intercept b Point – Slope Form: An equation of the line that passes through the point (x 1, y 1 ) and has slope m is y – y 1 = m ( x – x 1 ).
