Mongolia Fresh Water Issue

Q&A. What is the capital of Mongolia?. Ulaan Baatar. What continent is Mongolia on?. Asia. Was the Gobi Desert always a desert?. No!!! it started as an ocean.

Intro. Mongolia is the 6th largest country in asia.. Most of mongolia consists of open fields, ment for farming and herding.. Mongolia's largest export is wool and some food, which is from all of the herding.

Fresh water. Every living creature needs water to survive, and in mongolia fresh water is becoming scarce.. Mongolia is a "landlocked" country with no direct access to a body of water. This also is'nt ideal for trading.. Only small rivers and streams are accessible.

The "Big" issue. Due to the recent changes in Mongolia's economy herders have started to enlarge their herds which leads to overgrazing. Which takes a larger amount of freshwater..Also in certain parts of Mongolia mining has polluted the freshwater resources.

What's being done. The Mongolian government has attempted building relief wells.. The wells are hard to come by though, The mongolian economy is moving downhill and the nomads/travelers are their last worry.

What should be done. I think that herders should be given a limit of how many animals they can have, to reduce overgrazing.. Also I think that there should be a specific distance between incoming mines and water resources.
